Web3 Security Engineering

Security engineering across the Web3 stack, from contracts and keys to infrastructure and frontends, including threat modelling, audit preparation, monitoring and incident readiness.

Overview

Many of the largest losses in Web3 did not come from exotic contract bugs. They came from compromised keys, poisoned frontends, misconfigured upgrades and bridges that trusted too few signers. Security has to cover the whole system, not just the Solidity.

We help teams build that coverage: threat models that span contracts and operations, key management that survives an insider threat or a stolen laptop, and monitoring that detects suspicious activity early enough to act on it.

Security engineering reviews are not a substitute for an independent third-party audit and cannot guarantee the absence of vulnerabilities. iQsolutions does not provide custody, insurance or legal services.

Business applications

  1. 01

    Pre-audit hardening

Internal security review, test-suite strengthening and static analysis ahead of an external audit, so auditors can spend their time on deep logic issues rather than findings that automated tools would have caught.

  2. 02

    Key and access management

Design and review of multisig, MPC and HSM arrangements, signer hygiene, hardware wallet procedures and role separation for deployers, upgraders and treasury operators across the organisation.

  3. 03

    Frontend and supply-chain security

Protection against DNS hijacking, malicious dependency updates and injected scripts through content security policies, subresource integrity, dependency pinning and signed release pipelines for decentralised application frontends.

  4. 04

    Monitoring and incident response

On-chain monitoring for anomalous transactions and governance actions, automated pause triggers where appropriate, and rehearsed incident playbooks that define who acts, how, and under which authority.

Engineering approach

  1. 01

    System threat model

We map assets, privileged roles, trust boundaries and external dependencies across contracts, infrastructure and people, then rank threats by likelihood and potential impact.

  2. 02

    Code and configuration review

Manual review supported by Slither, Aderyn, Semgrep and fuzzing examines contract logic, deployment configuration, access control and upgrade paths against the threat model.

  3. 03

    Operational security review

Signing procedures, key storage, CI/CD pipelines, cloud accounts and frontend hosting are assessed, because attackers increasingly target operations rather than contract code.

  4. 04

    Remediation support

Findings are prioritised with clear reproduction steps and recommended fixes, and we work with your engineers until each issue is resolved, formally accepted or tracked.

  5. 05

    Detection and readiness

Monitoring rules, alert routing and incident playbooks are implemented and exercised through tabletop drills, so the team knows exactly how to respond under pressure.

Questions leaders ask

Is your security review the same as an audit?

No. We are an engineering partner, and our reviews are designed to harden systems and prepare them for audit. For contracts holding significant value, we recommend an independent audit by a specialist firm, ideally more than one, followed by a public bug bounty after launch.

What should we do first if we suspect an exploit?

Follow your incident playbook: pause affected contracts if you can, preserve evidence, notify signers through a pre-agreed secure channel and engage specialised responders. If no playbook exists, that is the most urgent gap to close, ideally long before any incident occurs.

Can you review a protocol that is already deployed?

Yes. For live systems, we compare deployed bytecode against source, examine admin roles and upgrade paths, check monitoring coverage and assess operational procedures. Findings that carry immediate risk are communicated privately to your designated contacts first.
