Industrial Monitoring Platforms

Monitoring platforms for plants and distributed assets: condition monitoring, alarms, time-series analytics and operator dashboards built on governed industrial data.

Overview

Monitoring is where industrial data first proves its value, and where many programs stall. Dashboards built quickly on raw tags tend to multiply, drift out of date and lose operator trust the first time a value looks wrong and nobody can explain why.

We engineer monitoring platforms as products: a governed asset model, consistent units and quality flags, time-series storage sized for the data, alerting with clear ownership, and interfaces designed with the operators and reliability engineers who depend on them every shift.

Business applications

  1. 01

    Condition monitoring of rotating equipment

Track vibration, temperature, current and lubrication indicators on motors, pumps, fans and compressors, with baselines and alert thresholds that reliability engineers have validated against their own field experience.

  2. 02

    Remote site monitoring

Give central teams visibility into unstaffed or lightly staffed sites such as substations, pumping stations and tank farms, with connectivity health, data freshness indicators and escalation paths for alarms.

  3. 03

    Process and quality monitoring

Monitor process variables against specification limits and statistical control bands, linking deviations to batch, shift and material context so quality teams investigate causes rather than symptoms.

  4. 04

    Environmental and utilities compliance

Track emissions, discharges, energy and water consumption with tamper-evident retention, supporting environmental reporting obligations and internal audits with traceable records instead of manually compiled spreadsheets and email trails.

Engineering approach

  1. 01

    Define monitoring objectives

We agree which failure modes, losses or compliance risks the platform must detect, and who acts on each alert, before selecting tags or designing screens.

  2. 02

Build the asset and tag model

Signals are organized into an ISA-95-aligned asset hierarchy with consistent naming, engineering units and metadata, so the same pump looks the same at every site.

  3. 03

    Engineer storage and processing

Time-series data lands in TimescaleDB, InfluxDB or an existing historian, with downsampling, retention and aggregation strategies matched to how each signal is actually used.

  4. 04

    Design alerts operators trust

Alert rules are tuned with operators to minimize nuisance alarms, carry context and suggested actions, and reach their owners through tools those owners already use.

  5. 05

    Operate and refine

After go-live, we track data quality, alert effectiveness and usage, adjusting thresholds and views as operators and reliability engineers surface what matters most.

Questions leaders ask

Can we use Grafana instead of a commercial monitoring suite?

Often, yes. Grafana paired with a time-series database is a capable and widely adopted foundation for industrial monitoring. Commercial suites can offer advantages in packaged analytics or vendor support. We compare the options against your requirements, skills and existing licenses rather than defaulting to one approach.

How do you reduce alarm fatigue?

By designing alerts with the people who receive them. Every alert has an owner, a defined response and a documented rationale. Deadbands, delays and state-based suppression reduce noise, and after go-live we review alert history to retire rules that are routinely ignored.

Does monitoring require changes to our control systems?

Generally not. Monitoring platforms read from historians, OPC UA servers or additional sensors without changing control logic. Where new sensors are needed, installation follows your site's procedures, and any connection to the control network is designed together with your controls and security teams.
