Modernización de SaaS empresarial

Modernice la plataforma de la que dependen sus clientes sin interrumpir el negocio.

01 · El problema de negocio

Many software companies and enterprise IT organizations depend on platforms built for a different era. A product that began as a single-tenant deployment per customer now carries many divergent installations, each with its own patches and upgrade schedule. Core business logic sits inside a monolith that few engineers fully understand, and every release requires coordinated downtime and manual testing. New capabilities that customers expect, such as AI features, open APIs and self-service onboarding, are difficult to add safely.

The cost of standing still accumulates quietly. Infrastructure spend grows with every new customer, security vulnerabilities linger in outdated frameworks, and hiring becomes harder because experienced engineers prefer modern stacks. Yet a full rewrite is rarely viable: it freezes the roadmap, duplicates effort and risks losing behavior that customers rely on but nobody documented. Leaders need a path that modernizes the platform while the business continues to operate and serve its customers.

02 · Solución propuesta

iQsolutions applies an incremental modernization strategy. We map the existing system, identify domain boundaries and introduce a modern platform alongside the legacy one, routing capabilities to new services gradually using the strangler fig pattern. Each step is reversible and validated in production, so customers experience continuity while the architecture underneath steadily improves.

Along the way we establish the foundations of a durable SaaS product: tenant isolation, identity and entitlements, usage metering, automated provisioning, observability and continuous delivery. The outcome is a platform that onboards customers without bespoke deployments, releases changes frequently and with confidence, and absorbs new capabilities such as AI features without destabilizing the core.

  1. 01

    Tenant and Identity Services

Centralized tenant management, single sign-on, role-based access and entitlements that support per-customer configuration without forking code, including enterprise federation through SAML and OpenID Connect with customers' own identity providers.

  2. 02

    Modular Domain Services

Business capabilities extracted from the monolith into well-bounded services or modules with clear contracts, independently testable and deployable, introduced behind a routing layer that preserves existing behavior.

  3. 03

    Data Migration Pipeline

Repeatable, verifiable migration of legacy schemas and customer data into the new model, with reconciliation checks, rehearsal runs on representative data and a rollback path for each tenant cohort.

  4. 04

    Platform Engineering Foundation

Infrastructure as code, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines and environment automation that make deployments routine, consistent and auditable across environments and regions, replacing manual release steps that depend on individual knowledge.

  5. 05

    Metering and Billing Integration

Usage tracking and plan enforcement connected to subscription billing, so product and finance teams can evolve commercial models without engineering work for every pricing, packaging or entitlement change.

04 · Enfoque de ingeniería

Enfoque de ingeniería

  1. 01

    Characterize before changing

We capture current behavior with automated characterization tests and production telemetry before refactoring anything, protecting the undocumented logic that customers quietly depend on and giving every later change a safety net.

  2. 02

    Incremental, reversible steps

Capabilities move to the new platform in small slices behind feature flags and routing rules. Any slice can be rolled back without affecting the rest of the migration.

  3. 03

    Fit-for-purpose tenancy

Pooled, siloed and hybrid tenancy each carry different cost, compliance and performance trade-offs. We select the isolation model per data domain based on customer and regulatory requirements.

  4. 04

    Modernize delivery too

Architecture changes last only when release practices change with them. Automated testing, trunk-based development and deployment pipelines are introduced as part of the program, not after it.

06 · Consideraciones de seguridad

  • Tenant isolation is enforced at the data, application and infrastructure layers, with automated tests verifying that one customer can never reach another customer's data.
  • Legacy dependencies with known vulnerabilities are inventoried and then patched or retired as part of the migration plan.
  • Secrets, keys and credentials move out of configuration files into managed vaults with rotation and access auditing.
  • Customer data migration follows documented procedures with encryption, integrity verification and customer notification wherever contracts require it.
  • The modernized platform is designed to support evidence collection for frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001 that enterprise customers increasingly request.

07 · Fases de entrega

  1. 1

    Assess

Map architecture, dependencies, tenancy, data and delivery practices, and define modernization goals with product leadership.

  2. 2

    Target architecture

Design the future platform, tenancy model, migration sequence and routing approach for incremental cutover.

  3. 3

    Foundation

Establish platform engineering, identity, observability and pipelines that every migrated capability will rely on.

  4. 4

    Incremental migration

Move domains and tenant cohorts in reversible slices, validating behavior and performance at each step.

  5. 5

    Retire and optimize

Decommission legacy components, tune cost and performance, and hand over a documented, maintainable platform.

Valor de negocio

Continuity during change

Customers keep working while the platform evolves underneath them, avoiding the roadmap freeze, disruption and risk associated with a single large cutover, while preserving the trust of long-standing customers.

Lower effort to serve each customer

Shared infrastructure, automated provisioning and standardized deployments reduce the operational work tied to each additional customer and remove the ongoing burden of patching and upgrading divergent installations one at a time.

Faster, safer releases

Automated testing and deployment pipelines let teams ship improvements more often and with less coordination effort, backed by clear rollback paths when something does not behave as expected in production.

Room for new capabilities

A modular, well-instrumented architecture makes it practical to add AI features, partner APIs and new commercial models without destabilizing the core product or delaying improvements existing customers are waiting for.
